Preview 

After being bowled out for only 131 runs in the first match of this series, the Bangladeshi team showed some resistance in the second game. The visitors managed to post 271 for 6 in Christchurch, but they failed to defend the total as the hosts cruised to the target with 10 balls and five wickets to spare. 

At one point, the Kiwis were struggling at 53 for 3. However, Bangladesh failed to continue exerting the pressure and didn’t take the important catches, something which captain Tamim Iqbal pointed out after the match. As far as their batting is concerned, the improved show was led by Iqbal himself, along with some late hitting from Mohammad Mithun. 

On the other hand, the hosts had their stand-in captain Tom Latham save the day for his side with a brilliant 108-ball 110. He got some good support from Devon Conway, who made 72 runs from 93 balls. Their bowling has been consistent so far in the series and it is needless to say that they will begin this match as the favourites.

The left-handed opener is possibly the most important member of the Bangladesh batting unit. Over the years, he has given good starts to the Bangladesh team in ODI cricket, on which the team has built and got a big total. He played a similar part in the previous match, but he would want to improve his strike rate. The southpaw had scored 78 runs from 108 balls.
