One Man Army: 5 Players who Led their Teams’ Show: Cricket is a team game, and the success of a team depends on the performance of all of the XI players combined. Having said that, some players with their individual performances manage to steal the show and hog the limelight, single-handedly winning matches for their side with their rollicking performances. The IPL has been an unarguable testimony for that, with players putting in unbelievable efforts thereby emerging as heroes for their respective sides. There have been some unreal efforts from players who have managed to single-handedly trounce the opposition with extraordinary flair. Now let us take a look at players in the IPL who have succeeded in being the lone warrior for their sides. One Man Army 1. Chris Gayle: Chris Gayle RCB. There are instances where the team may fail him, but Chris Gayle with his unfailing loyalty has won a load of matches single-handedly with his jaw dropping One Man Army batting efforts. Gayle has scored a century in every season of the IPL for RCB. He has 5 centuries to his name, which is more than the individual centurions of Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders combined. Sunil Narine baffled the opposition batsmen with his guile and craft and outclassed them easily. Not just the deliveries his stats are mind-boggling as well. He has taken more than 20 wickets for KKR for 3 consecutive seasons with an economy rate of under 6 in 2 of those editions. Such has been Narine’s undeniable impact for his side and he has been the saviour for Kolkata on many occasions as One Man Army. 3. Lasith Malinga: Lasith Malinga MI. (Photo Source: BCCI) The king of Yorkers from Sri Lanka is yet another prime example for a One Man Army. Malinga has by the power of his own bowling won many games for MI and has been instrumental in the team’s success. He has picked up 141 wickets for his side with more than 20 wickets in 4 seasons. Lasith Malinga has rattled most batsmen with his deadly Yorkers and is virtually unplayable in the death overs. 4. David Warner: David Warner SRH. (Photo Source: BCCI) David Warner was in unbelievable form in this season of the Pepsi IPL. He was the sole performer for his team with more than 500 runs which includes 7 fifties. Despite Warner’s electrifying performances the team failed him. The Aussie fought alone like One Man Army valiantly and went down fighting. 5. Andre Russell: Andre Russell KKR. (Photo Source: BCCI) This man is another example for a Single Soldier Army who bowed out fighting. Andre Russell played his heart out this season for KKR and put in some momentous performances. Despite coming lower down the order for his side, he has stacked as many as 326 runs at an astonishing strike rate of 193. Russell also recorded the fastest IPL fifty for this season, along with 14 wickets in 13 games undoubtedly makes him the most valuable player for KKR.
