Pakistan vs Windies, 2018: 1st T20I – Statistical Highlights

International cricket returned to Karachi’s National Stadium after nine years with Pakistan thrashing Windies by a 143-run margin in the first of the 3-match T20I series. Fakhar Zaman (39), Hussain Talat (41) and Sarfraz Ahmed (38) kept Pakistan scoring at a brisk pace as they were 137/2 in 15 overs. However, three wickets in next three overs for 22 runs made it tough for Pakistan to reach 200. But an unbeaten 14-ball 37 from Shoaib Malik took the home team’s total to 203/4 with 44 runs coming in the last two overs. Windies’ innings started with a six off the first ball which remained the highlight of their innings as they were bowled out for just 60 runs.

3 – Hussain Talat became only the 3rd Pakistan player to receive the man of the match award on T20I debut. Shahid Afridi was the man of the match in Pakistan’s inaugural T20I game while Shadab Khan received the match award in his T20I debut game against Windies in 2017.

60 – Windies’ total of 60 in this game is the joint 4th lowest in the T20I history. This is the lowest total for Windies and also the lowest for any team against Pakistan in the T20I format.

Windies’ previous lowest T20I total was 79/7 against Zimbabwe in the 2010 Port of Spain T20I while the previous lowest for any side against Pakistan was 80 by New Zealand in the 2010 Christchurch T20I.

60 – Windies’ total of 60 is the 2nd lowest total in all International cricket in Pakistan. Windies were on the receiving side in the 1986 Faisalabad Test where they were bowled out for 53 runs by the hosts.

Their total of 60 is also the 2nd lowest total in the Twenty20 format in Pakistan. Dera Murad Jamali Ibexes were bowled out for 55 against Lahore Lions in the 2014 Pakistan T20 Cup at the National Stadium in Karachi only.

143 – Pakistan’s 143-run winning margin is the 2nd biggest in the T20I format. Sri Lanka defeated Kenya by 172 runs in the WT20 game as they posted 260/6 and bundled out Kenya for 88.

203/5 – Pakistan’s total in this game is their joint highest total in the T20I format. They scored 203/5 against Bangladesh in the 2009 T20I also played in Karachi.

203/5 – Pakistan’s total of 203 is the 3rd highest T20I score for any team without a fifty in the innings. Hussain Talat’s 41 is the highest individual score for Pakistan in this game. Australia made 221/5 with the highest score of 48 against England in the 2007 Sydney T20I while England scored 214/7 with a highest of 46 against New Zealand in the 2013 Auckland T20I.
