Former Indian cricketer Parthiv Patel lost his father on Sunday (September 26) and condolences are coming in from different parts. The former wicketkeeper-batsman took to Twitter and announced the sad news. Parthiv, who’s a part of the expert panel in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 in Dubai, shared a picture of his late father Mr. Ajaybhai Bipinchandra Patel, and urged his fans to keep him in thoughts and prayers.

The comment section got flooded in no time as netizens were saddened to know about Parthiv’s father’s demise. Many prominent members of the cricket fraternity including Sachin Tendulkar, RP Singh, and Wasim Jaffer also expressed grief in comments.

Parthiv Patel requests fans to remembers his father in thoughts and prayers

“It is with the deepest grief and sadness, we inform the passing away of my father Mr. Ajaybhai Bipinchandra patel. He left for his heavenly abode on 26th September 2021. We request you to keep him in your thoughts and prayers. May his soul rest in peace🙏 ॐ नम: शिवाय,” wrote Parthiv in the post.

After Sachin Tendulkar came across the news, he offered condolences for Parthiv and his entire family. “May your father’s soul rest in peace, @parthiv9! My heartfelt condolences to your entire family in this time of grief,” he wrote. The likes of Irfan Pathan and Manoj Tiwary also reacted to the news.

Meanwhile, Parthiv is one of the better wicketkeeper-batsmen to have played for India and his record is impressive as well. The southpaw was known to attack the bowlers from the outset and his glovework was also précised. In fact, the left-handed batsman made his international debut at the age of 17.

Although the rise of MS Dhoni meant Parthiv didn’t play regularly for India, the southpaw continued to be a force to reckon with in domestic competitions and in the Indian Premier League. He played for several franchises in the gala tournament including five-time champions Mumbai Indians and three-time winners Chennai Super Kings.

The southpaw played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2020 and announced his retirement from all forms of cricket of the competition. As of now, the southpaw has been giving his words of wisdom in the UAE leg of IPL 2021.
