Australian pacer Pat Cummins is raring to hit the deck in the Champions Trophy as he thinks the England conditions are tailor-made for him. The tall speedster is one of the four frontline bowlers of the Australian pace battery and his place in the side will bolster the team’s prospects as they progress in the tournament.

The young lad has had an erratic cricketing career so far since his stupendous debut in 2011 where he took six wickets in that Test against South Africa, thus becoming the second youngest cricketer to achieve the feat. Plagued by injuries, his comeback has placed him along with the likes of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and James Pattinson.

Pat had a fantastic India tour and the youngster had acclimatised well to the gruelling conditions there and also came out without any injuries. Playing continuously for eight-nine months non-stop does take a toll on the body. But Cummins is happy that he has come out of the subcontinent unscathed. This has pumped up his confidence and he is now ready for the new challenge.

Good run in the last 8-9 months

“I’ve been playing games for about eight or nine months flat without missing a game or being rested. I feel that I’m in a really good place and I feel that I’ve played a lot of cricket. It’s been a bit of dream run which is always what you hope for. So I’m feeling good,” he said.

Cummins reiterated that pace-friendly wickets bring the best out of him and as English conditions provide him with the same, he is excited. Bowling on Indian pitches for quite a long summer, he welcomes the change. Australia banks on its pace quartet for the tournament and so Cummins is happy that they have the weapons in the form of pace and accuracy in their arsenal.

“I’ve been bowling on Indian wickets for the last three months so it’s nice to have a bit of change. The two biggest weapons over here are pace, and we are lucky we’ve got three of four guys in the squad who can bowl quickly, and accuracy is just important,” he concluded saying.
