The Pakistan squad for their upcoming tours of Ireland and England has recently been announced. They have selected a 16-man squad for their one-month campaign. Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq, the nephew of the legendary Inzamam-ul-Haq, have also found a place in the team. They will start their campaign with a one-off Test against Ireland after which they will play a couple of Tests against England.

Usman Salahuddin, who has played a couple of ODIs, and Saad Ali, a top order batsman, have also been included in the tour. Meanwhile, Yasir Shah, the Pakistani leg-spinner has been ruled out of the tour owing to a hip injury. Shadab Khan, who has been a regular fixture in the limited-overs team, has been drafted in the squad.

“I hope he recovers quickly”- Inzamam on Yasir Shah

Yasir Shah has been a colossus figure for Pakistan cricket, especially in Tests. He has been a significant performer for them and has guided them to a number of triumphs across the globe. Inzamam, the Chief Selector, has lamented Yasir’s injury and wished for his speedy recovery as Pakistan has some tough series ahead of them.

“Yasir’s absence is a big loss for us. If we look at his numbers for the last two years, he has more wickets than any other bowler for Pakistan. He was our strike bowler, all the games we’ve won he played a big part in. I hope he recovers quickly from his injury because we have some big home Test series coming up after this series too, and we will need him in the UAE.” the former Pakistani cricketer said.

Test Squad: Sarfraz Ahmed (capt &wk), Azhar Ali, Imam-ul-Haq, Sami Aslam, Haris Sohail, Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Saad Ali, Asad Shafiq, Usman Salahuddin, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Abbas, Hasan Ali, Rahat Ali, Faheem Ashraf
