PCB issues NOCs to Pakistan players participating in T10 League
The tournament gets underway in Sharjah on November 23.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has finally decided to issue No Objection Certificates (NOC) to its players who have been drafted to take part in the T10 League. This will be the second edition of the lucrative T10 League and will take place later this year in Sharjah. The inaugural season was a runaway success, and earlier this year, the ICC officially recognized the tournament as the world’s first T10 cricket league.
On Wednesday, the PCB said in a statement that after much consideration, it has decided to issue NOCs to some of its players. The board was careful in its research, having procured and processed detailed information from the ICC as well as the Emirates Cricket Board regarding the tournament. A number of Pakistan players were earlier banned for spot-fixing in the PSL, including Pakistan internationals Nasir Jamshed and Mohammad Irfan.
We needed to ensure T10 league was corruption-free: PCB
The statement also read, “Furthermore the PCB’s own Anti-Corruption Unit also carried out a thorough review.” Initially, the PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani had revoked permissions granted to some of its players to participate in the T10 league. He insisted that the board must first verify and ensure that the event was transparent and free from corruption.
Mani also stated that PCB demanded to know the origins of the financial details of the tournament and had also sought details and approval from the ICC. The statement said that the ICC had given their approval for member boards to issue NOCs to their respective players and allow them to participate in the league. This prompted the PCB to issue NOCs to Pakistan players for the T10 League.
“As a consequence of this review, the PCB has decided to allow its players to take part in the T-10 league and like the first edition the PCB will send its own integrity officers to monitor the league,” the statement read. It also added that further requests for NOCs will be assessed on a case by case basis.
