PM Modi lauds Team India, Virat Kohli and Ravi Ashwin for their performance

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his monthly radio talk called ‘Mann Ki Baat’ the last for the year 2016 today among the various point he touched upon also congratulated the all the sportsperson who made the country proud during the year. PM Modi lauded the Indian Test team, captain Virat Kohli and spin bowling ace Ravichandran Ashwin for their wonderful show right through the year and especially for their recent win over visitors England in the Test series.

Team India beat the Brits comprehensively by a 4-0 margin. While the Indians were top notch with their game, the visitors couldn’t really get a hang of things and struggled all their way to a series defeat. “Performance of Indian cricket team has been phenomenal this year, congratulate the team for beating England 4-0,” PM Modi said.

The Indian offie who ended the year as the leading wicket-taker is also the No.1 ranked bowler and allrounder in the ICC Test rankings. He was rewarded for his consistent and dominant performance with the ICC Test cricketer of the year as well as the ICC Cricket of the Year awards in the recent awards announced by the international governing body of the sport. “I congratulate India’s off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin on being named ICC Cricketer of the year and Test Cricketer of the year,” he further added.

India’s Junior Hockey team also put up a marvellous effort to lift the Junior Hockey World Cup a couple of weeks ago and the PM didn’t miss out on congratulating them either. He also praised all the sportsmen and sportswomen who represented the country in their respective sports and tried their best to bring glory to the nation. “Our sportsmen and sportswomen have made us proud. After 15 years our Junior Hockey has won the world cup, I congratulate all the young players,” Modi said.
