The penultimate delivery of the over was again bludgeoned through to the mid wicket for a humongous six.

Next up was Zaheer Khan, but even a bowler of his class couldn’t stop the run flow. Ponting hit Zaheer straight past his head for a fiery maximum that would have unnerved any bowler. The left armer Yuvraj Singh was brought into the attack in a bid to stop the savage attack. But it proved to be futile as well as he was carted for sixes. Ponting’s innings had six sixes but no fours. Such was his confidence that he was comfortable enough to deal in sixes. Again Anil Kumble came on to bowl and again the same result. Australia were past the 330 run mark inside 48 overs thanks to Ponting’s phenomenal display of batsmanship.
