Practicing for all match situations helps Jasprit Bumrah produce inch-perfect yorkers

The Asian neighbours, India and Bangladesh played an absolute ripper of a game at Birmingham. The Men in Blue were just able to hold their fort because of their experience of such situations. With due respect to Bangla Tigers who have shown their growth in this World Cup, one can say that India seized match-defining moments. For India, it was again Rohit Sharma with a sparkling century in their batting essay and then it was the turn of the new found gem of Indian cricket, Jasprit Bumrah to shine with the ball in his hand.

After the match, where he took a four-wicket haul, the speedster was the talk of the town for his toe-crushing yorkers. In the World Cup so far, the right-arm pacer has 14 wickets in 7 games, Bumrah is the joint highest wicket-taker for Team India in the tournament with his new-ball partner Mohammed Shami. After a yet another match-winning spell the pacer was very vocal in the press conference talking about his practice and especially his yorkers.

Bumrah made it clear that his pre-match customs have helped him become a better bowler. He also added that he tries to make his net preparations as close to the actual game scenario.

Bumrah’s toe crushers have become a nightmare for the opposition

“Whenever I practice in the nets, I practice each and every situation, be it with the new ball, be it with the old ball, bowling at the death.This is my first World Cup, so I want to play as many games as possible. I don’t think I’ve become an experienced player that I could say I don’t want to play some games,” the 25-year-old said.

“I think I’m still the same person, maybe two years older. I always want to keep learning. I want to keep evolving. That has always been my game,” Bumrah added.

The speedster also dwelled into his work ethic as according to him death bowling cannot be mastered quickly. Bumrah also said that he never spares thoughts for any particular batsman and concentrates on his skills and process. When asked about his work-load the bowler was quick to reply that he likes to play as many games for India.

He doesn’t even want to miss the dead rubber against Sri Lanka which is also their last league game on July 6.
