England cricketer Liam Dawson has praised the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for providing the opportunity to the youngsters. He is yet to play a game for his franchise Peshawar Zalmi this year but is enjoying his stint on the sidelines while speaking with the greats of the game. However, in a delighting news for the fans, Dawson has shown his willingness to travel Pakistan if his team qualifies for the playoffs.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is striving hard to bring cricket back to the country. They organised the final of the tournament in Lahore last year which was a great success and also hosted World XI for three T20 Internationals at the same venue and then Sri Lanka travelled Pakistan for the final T20I of the series. All the matches were a great success and were also supported by ICC. This time around, they’ve scheduled three out of four knockout matches in the country with the final to be played at the National Stadium in Karachi.

It is amazing to speak with Younis

Liam Dawson was excited about playing in the PSL and believed it is an excellent platform for the overseas cricketers like him to improve their game and was also ready to travel Pakistan for the knockout matches. “It is fine. Some chats with the rest of the guys […] If we get to the final … if we get to eliminators then I will be prepared to go,” he said while speaking to Geo TV.

“It is definitely helpful for young cricketers [and] even for the overseas players. It is always a challenge coming to subcontinent or coming to Asia as an English player. Playing tournaments like PSL makes you better as a cricketer and you obviously learn a lot as well,” he added. He also praised the legendary Younis Khan who is part of the support staff with Peshawar Zalmi this year.

“It is amazing to speak to him about batting side of things. When so many international cricketers are part of it [as well as] international coaches who have played international cricket, learning at least a thing or two is normal.” the England all-rounder said.
