PSL 2018: Young Pakistan all-rounder eyeing a place in the national team
"My focus is to perform well and make it to the national team," he said.
The third edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) is up and running as six teams are eagerly fighting it out for the ultimate glory. The tournament is an opportunity for the local youngsters to showcase their skills against some of the best players around the world. Also, they share the dressing room with renowned international players which eventually help them a lot. However, the young all-rounder Hussain Talat is aiming to make it to the national squad by displaying his prowess in the competition.
Hussain is currently playing for Islamabad United and recently played a match-winning knock for his team with the bat. His team was facing Multan Sultans who had got off to a blazing start in the tournament. United were chasing a below par total of 114 and were in trouble on 63/5 in the 11th over. Hussain Talat, however, stepped up to the plate and played some delightful strokes which helped his side gun down the total with utter ease. He smashed 48* off 34 deliveries with 4 fours and 3 sixes and was also awarded Man of the Match.
My focus is to perform well
Hussain Talat, in an interview to Geo TV, expressed his desire to make it to the national side with consistent performances in the PSL. “Last year, I joined Pakistan team camp after the PSL. I was in the 30-member squad against West Indies. Unfortunately, I could not make it to the 15-member squad, but after that, we had a tour during Asia Cup and I received best all-rounder award,” he said.
He was also all praise of the team management and coaching staff of Islamabad United for encouraging the local players to perform at the highest level. “This year too, my focus is to perform well and make it to the national team. I feel that I should contribute for my team as much as I can. It should help the team. The way they have been taking us along from the first season. The confidence they gave me, and I think that a player performs as well as much his confident,” the youngster added.
