Former Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne is quite famous for his controversies. One of his most infamous ones was when he was alleged of having an affair with the British actress Elizabeth Hurley in 2010. The Aussie came out in public and admitted to being involved with the actress. However, the couple announced their separation in 2013. In a recent interview, the former leggie admitted that he is still ‘quite sad’ about their break up.
After dating for a year, the couple had also got engaged in 2011. However, two years later, they split up and never got married. While talking about his relationship with the Hollywood actress in a six-part series ‘A Week with Warnie’ with Fox Sports, the bowler expressed his feelings for his ex-girlfriend. He revealed that he is quite unhappy about their breakup and still deeply cares for her.
“(I’m) quite sad it’s over because I still care about her deeply and she’s a wonderful person,” Warne said.
During the interaction, the Victorian revealed the first time she had come down to Australia. He revealed that happened after about six months of them seeing each other. The veteran also said that he didn’t introduce her to his children until he thought that the relationship was real and had a future.
‘Elizabeth Hurley is a wonderful person’: Shane Warne
“When she first came to Australia we had been seeing each other for about six months or so, so I didn’t introduce her to my children until it was real and I believed it had a future — it wasn’t just a bit of fun,” said Warne as quoted by stuff.co.nz.
“So six months down the track she finally comes to meet the children in Australia and it was an absolute circus. I mean, the next-door neighbour’s kids were selling cordial for a buck out the front. All sorts of things were happening.
“We tried to keep things as normal as possible but it got scary. Some of these rogue photographers trying to get exclusives. I remember my youngest daughter Summer screaming in the back seat ‘dad, dad slow down’. Cars jumping in front of us, running red lights,” added the leg-spinner.
The 50-year-old star also said that when he finally decided to introduce his children to Hurley, their meeting was an absolute circus. The bowler also revealed that he was serious about Liz Hurley and their relationship was not just about fun.
During the interaction, the ex-Australian cricketer also admitted that he regrets cheating on his wife, Simone Callahan with Liz Hurley. Warne was married to Callahan for more than ten years.
