This year's PSL was special as it was organized on Pakistan soil for the first time in its history.
Pakistan Super League 2020 cannot end on a good note as the semi-finals of the tournament got postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. But, the Men in Green country would have got some exciting talent from the T20 tournament that can turn out to be the future stars for Pakistan. Now, Ramiz Raja, the former player has picked the best four players from PSL 2020 according to him.
This year’s PSL was special as it was organized on Pakistan soil for the first time in its history. Many overseas players like Shane Watson, Jason Roy, Alex Hales and many more also featured in the tournament. A long wait of Pakistani fans came to its end as they got to watch their heroes from overseas and home players playing under the same roof in one team. Meanwhile, Pakistan witnessed some prolific performances from some new faces during the tournament. And, Ramiz Raja has picked out his top four players from this season of PSL.
Ramiz Raja heaps praise on Haider Ali
While talking on a YouTube channel, the former player said that Haider Ali was at his best in the tournament. He also advised him to follow the footsteps of Babar Azam and Virat Kohli. It was great to watch him playing with such confidence in his first season of PSL.
‘‘Haider has immense talent and has made a name for himself in his first season of PSL. However, he needs to bring consistency in his performance and his ideal position is number three in the batting order. He has big quality shots in his armour and doesn’t need to improvise much as his power-hitting base is quite strong,’’ Ramiz Raja said as quoted by The Express Tribune.
The second player he picked was Zeeshan Ashraf, the wicketkeeper batsmen from Peshawar Zalmi, who scored two fifties at the beginning of the PSL. He is one of those versatile players on which a coach can work and can get the best out of him. He always came out to bat with a carefree approach and it worked for him as an opener.
“Zeeshan Ashraf scored two fifties and had a great beginning this season but tapered off by the end. He certainly has the talent and someone you can work on as he has big shots and plays with a carefree approach,” the former player said.
The third-best player for the former player was Azam Khan, who did immensely well for Quetta Gladiators. As per Ramiz Raja, he is a special talent but will have to work quite hard over his fitness and reduce his weight ahead of the upcoming season. Raja opined that he reads the match situation very well and plays accordingly which is a big plus for him as a player.
“I think Azam Khan has immense batting talent. However, he needs to reduce his weight if he wants to represent Pakistan. His calm demeanour and confidence in a tense situation has impressed me the most. He reads the match situation really well and doesn’t get bothered by bowler’s reputation,” said Ramiz Raja.
Last but not least, Raja said that Khushdil Shah, who did exceedingly well for his team batting in the lower middle order. He times the ball really well and the position at which he plays doesn’t give him much time to get settle. But, still, he justified the role that was given to him by Multan Sultans, “Khushdil Shah is a natural timer of the ball. He plays down the order where you need to go for big shots and he didn’t disappoint,” concluded Raja.
