IPL: Ranking 10 worst releases in the league history
The history of IPL has seen many shocking player releases.
6. Andre Russell (DD)
Much before gaining utter prominence in the KKR team, Andre Russell had initially started his IPL career with the Delhi Daredevils franchise. The all-rounder was bagged by DD in IPL 2012 for INR 2.26 Crore and also in the subsequent edition was given a small price hike of total INR 2.39 Crore.
Now while the DD franchise hardly made Russell play a total of 7 games in both the IPL seasons, the West Indian had started to showcase his big-hitting prowess in international cricket. The cricketer around that time had also done well for the West Indies team along with building a reputation of being a barbaric striker of the ball.
Hence with the DD franchise eventually letting go of Russell in the 2014 IPL, the KKR team had merrily bagged the all-rounder for a subservient amount of INR 60 Lakh. Since then, Andre Russell has dwelled himself as one of the iconic players of the KKR franchise eventually also manifesting it as a valuable loss of the DD team. However, with the Delhi franchise also at present being as one of the top IPL teams, maybe Russell’s omission might not be a mammoth loss in the hindsight.
