Rashid Latif ranks current ‘fab 5,’ picks T20 league which he would have liked to play
Rashid Latif often stays in the headlines with his controversial and bold statements.
Rashid Latif is regarded as one of the best wicketkeeper-batsmen to have represented Pakistan, and his records across formats are impressive as well. He was known for his precise glovework behind the stumps and his hitting skills lower down the order gave tough time to many bowlers. While Latif didn’t play international cricket after 2003, he still often stays in the headlines with his controversial and bold statements.
In an interaction, Latif opened up about several things and also presented his opinion on various trending topics. He also had to join the bandwagon of ranking the ‘fab five’ of international cricket. For the unversed, Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, Joe Root, Kane Williamson and Babar Azam feature in this unofficial elite group of modern-day greats. Several members of the cricket fraternity have classified these players from one to five, and Latif also had to do the same.
Rashid Latif keeps Kane Williamson at the top
“Williamson, Azam, Kohli, Smith and Root,” was the order of Latif’s arrangement as he was speaking in a YouTube video of Bohra Network. It was indeed a difficult choice to make as all these players have been exceptional in international cricket lately. Except for Azam, the other four players are near about the same age and are expected to end their careers around the same time.
Hence, it would be interesting to see who hangs up his boots with most accolades. As per Latif, however, Williamson is the best in the lot. Further in the conversation, the former Pakistan international was asked to pick one T20 league, which he would have liked to play.
While many fans and experts hail the Indian Premier League (IPL) as the best T20 league, Latif went with Australia’s competition Big Bash League (BBL). As of now, the former cricketer and other cricket lovers in Pakistan would be having their eyes on the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021, which is underway in Abu Dhabi.
The gala tournament was initially played in Pakistan but got suspended midway due to the COVID-19 crisis. Subsequently, the remaining games were shifted to the United Arab Emirates. PSL 2021 is currently heading towards the conclusion, with only knock-out games left.
