Ravichandran Ashwin forgets to wish his team owner, bemuses Twitterati
KXIP bought Ashwin for a huge INR 7.2 crore in the IPL 2018 auction.
The IPL 2018 Auction has seen quite some noteworthy upheavals. The likes of Gautam Gambhir and Harbhajan Singh who have been stalwarts for Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians respectively will be seen in different colours in the upcoming IPL. One of the prominent ironies has to be the swap of Ravichandran Ashwin, originally from Chennai to Kings XI Punjab and Harbhajan Singh, originally from Punjab snapped up by Chennai Super Kings.
The fact that the Preity Zinta owned franchise shelled out a whopping 7.6 crores to pick Ashwin, reinforces the possibility of him captaining the side. In the recent times, the responsibility of captaincy was shared by a few personnel like George Bailey, Murali Vijay, David Miller and Glenn Maxwell.
Bailey is the only one who lived up to the expectations with his performances and took the team all the way to the final. Hence, some changes were already expected in the Kings XI side even before the auction.
Both, Harbhajan and Ashwin have been strong performers in the IPL over the last decade. Only time will tell whether their show with the new team matches up to the standards they’ve set for themselves. Interestingly, the think tank of Super Kings preferred experience over youth in this year’s auction. Most of the players bought by the Yellow Army are more than thirty years of age much to the amusement of Twitterati.
Ashwin’s induction into the Kings XI Punjab team got off to a shaky start as he forgot to wish his team owner Preity Zinta on her 43rd birthday on January 31st. However, he rectified his mistake and wished her a day later.
Ashwin wished Zinta with a Tweet that read, ‘’Belated birthday wishes
@realpreityzinta’’.
The bubbly actress was quick to respond to his wish and acknowledged it saying, ‘’Thank you somuch @ashwinravi99
Looking forward to seeing you at the @lionsdenkxip’’
Twitterati loved the fact that Ashwin has already started to greet his new team owners and this also gave them an opportunity to take funny digs at the offie.
