The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) proved in their first match that they were in this tournament to win it, and eyeing their first IPL trophy. The team has been doing well under skipper Faf du Plessis and hasn’t experimented much with their side. Though they lost their first game of the campaign by a small margin, they made a comeback in the second one to win it.

Looking at the team, it is visible that the players are on the hunt to seal the playoffs berth and secure their first title. But the players’ form in the two games has been topsy-turvy. The player who performed well in the first game showcased an opposite performance in the second match, and vice-versa. But the team has somewhat settled in and balanced it out.

If a team doesn’t repeat its mistakes, then it stays for the long run in the tournament: Nikhil Chopra

Former India cricketer Nikhil Chopra feels that RCB do not need to make changes in their playing XI until it is to fit Glenn Maxwell. “RCB played their previous encounter well. If and when ‘Big Show’ i.e. Maxwell comes back to the side, that’s the only time I think RCB will need to make amends to their side. For now, they don’t need a change in their line-up,” said Chopra on Sky247.net presents ‘Not Just Cricket Show’ on CricTracker.

“RCB lost their first match due to their own mistakes. They gave away too many extras in the form of wide balls and thus couldn’t defend their score. They should know how to control the controllable factors. They improved in their next match. If a team doesn’t repeat its mistakes, then it stays for the long run in the tournament,” he added.

Chopra feels that once Maxwell joins the team, their playing XI would look even stronger. Maxwell has joined RCB in their camp, but couldn’t join the team in their stint against RR. He’s expected to play for the team in their clash against the Mumbai Indians on April 9 at the MCA Stadium in Pune.
