Kerala, over the last few days, is battling for its existence due to the wrath of nature. Most parts of the state are under the water as the rescue operations are still in progress. More than 3 Lakh people have been shifted and the death toll has gone past 350 now which has led to the several celebrities including the cricketers urging the followers to donate as much as they can to the relief funds. However, former India cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has lent a helping hand for the people and has won the hearts of many.

Earlier, Sanju Samson had donated a whopping amount of Rs 15 Lakhs to Chief Minister Relief Fund despite being busy in the quadrangular series. His father and brother handed over the amount to the Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan on August 14 at the Cliff House. He had also urged the others to help in whatever possible way for the people in trouble.

“This is not for publicity. I do charity without letting the world know. Now, it’s the time to raise some awareness on the importance of making a donation to the flood relief fund and people like me have to do it and let know the public. I think my action will prompt several other people to come forward and support the flood-hit people,” he had said while speaking to Khaleej Times.

How much did Sachin donate?

According to reports, Sachin Tendulkar has contributed an amount of Rs 10 Lakhs to the relief funds and has set an example for the other cricketing celebrities. The news was revealed on the social media platform Twitter by one of his fan pages ‘OMG Sachin.’ The master blaster had earlier called for his fans and followers to come out in support for God’s Own Country on his official Twitter handle.

“Prayers are always good but in times of dire need and suffering we all can do more. Right now the victims and families of the #KeralaFloods need our help. Let’s show them that we #StandWithKerala. Even a small contribution to Kerala’s #CMDRF would go a long way. @CMOKerala,” he had tweeted.

However, he was also criticised by many for not donating anything by himself. But maybe, like Samson, he likes to do charity without letting the world know.
