Ricky Ponting smashes one-handed flick for a boundary off Courtney Walsh in Bushfire Bash

Ricky Ponting, former Australia took fans down the memory lane with his brilliant batting during the Bushfire charity game that was played at Junction Oval in Melbourne. It was one of the most awaited games for the year in which many legendary cricketers took part to raise funds for the communities that were affected by the Bushfires in Australia.
Cricket Australia had taken an initiative to raise funds for the people, who were severely hit with the natural calamity. Earlier, the game was scheduled to be played at Sydney Cricket Ground ahead of the BBL final on the same day. But, that was not possible due to the bad weather forecast. Later on, the game was then shifted to the new venue where the match began in full flair with Adam Gilchrist and Ricky Ponting leading their respective teams.

Ponting’s one-handed flick off Courtney Walsh hogged the spotlight in the match. The instance happened in the fourth over when Ponting was the batsman on strike against Courtney Walsh in the fourth over of the innings. On the third delivery of the over, Ponting unleashed a one-handed flick for a boundary off the former West Indies bowler.
Walsh bowled a back of a length ball down the leg side and the former Aussie skipper smacked it for a boundary over the fine leg. While Ponting was batting, it never looked that he bid adieu to the game long ago. The glimpse of his amazing batting skills were still a treat to the eyes for the fans.
Coming onto the game, Pointing XI posted a good total of 103 runs for a loss of six wickets in stipulated 10 overs. Brian Lara (30 runs off 11 balls) and Ricky Ponting (26 off 14 balls) played brilliant knocks helped their side in posting a competitive score.
During the chase, Gilchrist and Co. lost the match by just one run. Andrew Symonds (29 runs off 13 balls) and Shane Watson (30 runs off 9 balls) turned out to be the top scorers for their team. In bowling, Brett Lee took two wickets for Ponting XI as he registered bowling figures of 2/11.
