Indian cricketers hardly get time to holiday or celebrate festivals or their birthdays with their family because of their jam-packed cricketing schedule. The Indian team ensures no one feels missed out with all the celebrations inside the dressing room and they have a tradition of their own. Of late they have incorporated the trend of cutting the cake on the birthdays and on occasions like winning the series or after someone has a record-breaking day.

When Rohit Sharma gets on the song, he does play one of the greatest of innings we’ve ever seen in limited-overs cricket. On Wednesday, when India and Sri Lanka clashed in the second ODI in Chandigarh, the Lankan skipper Thisara Perera wouldn’t have imagined what he and his side is going to witness after he opted to bowl first after winning the toss.

Hitman Show

Rohit started slowly and later demolished the Lankan bowling line-up changing gears after reaching his century. He had hit just 1 six until his century which he scored in 115 balls. Following which it was a carnage as the skipper pressed his feet on the gas. He plundered another 11 sixes in just 36 more deliveries to reach his 3rd double ton in ODIs.

Team India posted a mammoth 392 runs at the end of the 50th over with stand-in skipper remaining not out on 208 runs. He also went past former India opener and Hindi commentator Virender Sehwag’s century tally of 15 to become India’s 4th highest in the century-makers list.

Sri Lanka kept losing wickets at regular intervals as they failed to get any closer to the massive target. Angelo Mathews with an unbeaten 108 did try to narrow down the margin of India’s victory. Among the bowlers, debutant Washington Sundar picked up a wicket in his second over while Yuzvendra Chahal claimed 3.

Celebration Time!

The team celebrated skipper Rohit’s third double ton and his first win as the skipper with a cake. The BCCI on their Twitter handle, posted a video where Rohit cuts the cake. Ajinkya Rahane and Chahal didn’t let the captain get away clean as they give him a nice cake facial to top off a brilliant day.
