Rohit Sharma is widely regarded as one of the best batsmen of the modern era. After donning the opener’s role, there was no looking back for the Mumbai Indians skipper, who stunned the world by his explosive yet effortless batting. Rohit, without a doubt, is currently an indispensable part of the national side.

After breaking into the national side in 2007, Rohit etched many records to his name and also achieved the impressive feat of smashing three double tons in One-day Internationals. Along with his impeccable batting, one unique trait of Rohit is his relaxed on-field approach.

Rohit plays his shot quite effortlessly and stays relaxed while rotating the strike. According to former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan, Rohit’s trait is quite similar to another Mumbai and Vidarbha stalwart Wasim Jaffer. Due to his vast experience and run-scoring spree, Jaffer is regarded as one of the most decorated cricketers in the domestic circuit.

During his appearance on the Star Sports’ Cricket Connected, Irfan discussed the similarities between the batting skills of Rohit Sharma and Wasim Jaffer. The Baroda star also revealed how Rohit’s mindset and career evolved after missing out to play the 2011 World Cup.

Lot of people are mistaken by Rohit’s relaxed attitude: Irfan Pathan

“Lot of people are mistaken when they see a guy who has lot of time and he (Wasim Jaffer) is slightly more relaxed than compared to Rohit. Then you say he needs to work hard!

Same things were said about Wasim Jaffer, when you look at his aura, when he used to run he used to run very relaxed, when he used to bat he had lot of time and we used to think – why isn’t he working hard – but actually, he was working really hard,” Irfan said.

According to Irfan, Rohit might possess a relaxed approach but that doesn’t stop him for toiling hard. Irfan also heaped praise for Rohit’s impressive stint with Mumbai Indians. Rohit is the most successful skipper in the IPL, having led the Mumbai franchise to four titles.

“With Rohit, from outside we used to think he might need to work more harder, he might need to put more application. Whenever you talk to Rohit Sharma, he used to always talk about sensible things, he used to always talk about working hard and he used to always talk about the team first as well, that is why you see some of the results he got at the captain of the Mumbai Indians team,” he added.
