Royal couple Kate Middleton and Prince William play cricket with Sachin Tendulkar
Royal couple Kate Middleton and Prince William were in Mumbai today to meet underprivileged children at the Oval Maidan Mumbai. The couple met a host of dignitaries at the Oval Maidan, including cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and Dilip Vengsarkar.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge posed for photographs and then indulged in the friendly game of Cricket with kids from Magic Bus, Childline, and Doorstep, three non-governmental organizations. Kate and William batted, bowled and fielded, impressing everyone.
Sachin Tendulkar also played with them and watched the Catherine, Duchess Of Cambridge bat.
He said afterwards, “What a fantastic experience it was to meet the Duke and Duchess.”
“They were a remarkable couple and made us feel so comfortable. They were really humble. [The] noble causes they are supporting all over the world shows what heart they have. All I wanted to say is God Bless them both in what they do.”
The batsman said he discussed cricket as well as tennis with William and indicated he was knowledgeable about both.
He said of the Duchess: “She batted, she fielded, and she did everything!”
William and Kate then visited the Banganga Water Tank to speak with children from the charity SMILE. They then went back to the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel for a glitzy evening of entertainment and fundraising.
Some of Bollywood’s biggest stars are expected to attend the dinner which celebrates Mumbai’s movie and creative industries. Film star Shah Rukh Khan – known as King Khan by his fans – and cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar will walk the welcoming red carpet as will Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and other movie celebrities including Rishi Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan and Farhan Akhtar.
