Sheldon Cottrell names three players he would target for dream hat-trick, two star India batters included
Whilst the varied topics Cottrell opened up on, what caught everybody's attention is the three international batters he wants to be a part of his hattrick.
West Indies’ left-arm pacer Sheldon Cottrell is renowned for his distinct style of celebration after picking up a wicket. His big salute every time he scalps a wicket is one of the most popular celebrations in the game. It is a no-brainer that the cricket on-lookers find it as fascinating as Imran Tahir’s running celebration or his West Indies teammate Kesrick Williams’ notebook celebration.
Cottrell would have aimed to bring his celebrations a few more times against Pakistan but that quite couldn’t happen. The pacer returned with a positive Covid 19 test upon their arrival in Pakistan that made him unavailable for the three-match T20I series. However, this did not upset the pacer a lot and also didn’t hamper his spirits.
In a conversation with ESPNcricinfo, he opened up on several varied topics. When asked about the three international batters he wants to be a part of his dream hat-trick, Cottrell named two Indians and one of his countrymate.
“Chris Gayle, Rohit Sharma, and then Virat Kohli. Kohli as the third wicket would be like the dream hat-trick,” Cottrell said during the ’25 Question Series’.
Sheldon Cottrell was last seen in the Abu Dhabi T10 League
The West Indies bowler last featured in the Abu Dhabi T10 League wherein he played for Team Abu Dhabi in the mega event. The speedster clinched seven wickets from seven matches registering his best figures of 2/18 against Deccan Gladiators. He was a part of the West Indies squad for the Pakistan T20Is and ODIs but unfortunately couldn’t play the T20Is after being one of the four players to test positive for Covid-19.
The absence of these players further added to the woes of the West Indies who were already missing the services of a few key players. In the month of September during the Caribbean Premier League, the pacer grabbed all the attention when he hit a six off the last ball to win the game for St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots. The last edition of the tournament wasn’t that impressive for him as he finished with six wickets from eight matches.
He last made his international appearance in July earlier this year against Australia. However now as the ODI series against Pakistan is postponed, Cottrell will be all determined to recover in time and make an impact on the team.
