The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) camp can take a breather as their Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman has left for Chennai to join the team for the upcoming IPL 2024 season. Rahman had suffered an injury scare during the third ODI between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka on Monday, sparking concerns over his availability for the cash-rich T20 league.

Mustafizur was stretchered off the field during the third ODI against Sri Lanka in Chattogram after complaining of cramps all over his body.

The left-arm bowler left the field as he was in visible discomfort, raising doubts about his participation in the IPL. Rahman had been brought into the Bangladesh playing XI for the first time in the series, replacing the injured Tanzim Hasan Sakib.

Mustafizur had ended with figures of 2/39, picking for the crucial wickets of Sadeera Samarawickrama and Charith Asalanka. His spell helped Bangladesh restrict Sri Lanka to 235 in 50 overs, a total the Tigers chased down with 58 balls to spare to clinch the series 2-1.

Mustafizur Rahman set to join CSK camp

Mustafizur shared on his social media on Tuesday morning, announcing his departure for Chennai. Excited and Looking forward to my new assignment. Heading to Chennai for IPL 2024. Keep me in your prayers so that I can deliver my best.  the left-arm pacer wrote.

The 29-year-old has so far represented Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals. This time around the fast bowler will don the yellow jersey and play under MS Dhoni's leadership.

Mustafizur's timely recovery is a relief for CSK, who have already been grappling with injury concerns to key players like Devon Conway (thumb injury) and Matheesha Pathirana (torn hamstring) ahead of the IPL. The Super Kings had bought Mustafizur at his base price of INR 2 crore in the 2024 auction.
