India skipper Rohit Sharma shut down a journalist during team India’s squad announcement for the eagerly-anticipated 2023 ODI World Cup. When asked about the present scenario of the Indian team and the selection of certain members, Rohit provided a straightforward remark.

“I don’t think it makes a huge difference. During the World Cup, do not ask me such questions in which the scenario is in such and such way during the press conference in World Cup because I won’t answer,” said Rohit during the press conference.

Meanwhile, the BCCI All India Senior Men’s Selection Committee retained the core setup for the 2023 ODI World Cup with a few exclusions. Prasidh Krishna and Tilak Varma, who are part of the Asia Cup squad, failed to make the cut for the big-ticket event. Likewise, Sanju Samson too misses out on a spot in the setup for the marquee ICC event.

Rohit will continue leading the side whereas the BCCI backed Hardik Pandya to take up the role as the vice-captain for the event. The side features four specialist pacers, three all-rounders, and a lone wrist spinner in the form of Kuldeep Yadav.

Notably, neither of Yuzvendra Chahal nor veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin will feature in the ODI World Cup. Speaking about their campaign in the World Cup, the Men in Blue play five-time winners Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on October 8 in their opening fixture.

Prior to the main event, Rohit Sharma and Co. will play defending champions England in their first warm-up match on Saturday, September 30, at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. Their second fixture will be against the Netherlands at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on October 3
