Watch: Glenn Maxwell reacts to his 'three shades' on his birthday; video goes viral

Team Australia's explosive all rounder Glenn Maxwell celebrated his 36^th birthday on Monday, October 14, and the Big Bash League (BBL) surprised the veteran with an unusual video featuring his BBL antics. The league shared a video on their social media platforms, where Maxwell was seen bowling, batting and fielding in an electrifying fashion on the boundary line, all by himself.

Though the video is creatively edited, it garnered praise from the ‘Big Show’. On the other hand, Maxwell has been included in Australia’s ODI series against Pakistan. He last played against England in Bristol, during the month of September.

In a surprising move, the team has rested Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh as Pat Cummins is poised to lead the team in the three-match series. Young batting sensation, Jake Fraser McGurk is likely to open the inning alongside Matthew Short. Meanwhile, Maxwell noticed the video and reacted to it, which left the fans in splits.

"Shock me that I fell for my trap," Maxwell commented on the BBL's Instagram handle.

Maxwell was selected in Victoria's second XI squad ahead of Test return

Interestingly, Glenn Maxwell was named in VIctoria's 12-man team for the first match against Queensland. The match would be a four-day affair and it will start on Monday, which also happens to be Maxwell's birthday. Notably, the game was scheduled to take place at the renowned Junction Oval ground.

For the unversed, Maxwell would take the field after one year in a bid to prepare for Australia's tour of Sri Lanka, slated for next year. Besides, Maxwell will most likely miss the next game of the Sheffield Shield, which will commence on October 20. Meanwhile, some key Australian players like Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon will also make their return to the domestic circuit.

As per the rules of Cricket Australia for the second XI games, 12 players are allowed to take the field for the respective teams. However, only 11 players will be allowed to bowl and bat during the four-day match. Hence this rule may benefit Glenn Maxwell in terms of workload as the players can be rotated and given plenty of rest in a wise move. The Australian board will be keen on monitoring his game time after he suffered a freak golf injury two years back. So far, in the last five years, the explosive batter has featured in only two First-Class games.
