When Gautam Gambhir took over as the Head Coach of the Indian team, there was a shift in the coaching setup as the veteran needed his preferred men behind the scenes. As the hullabaloo over the new coaching set-up was garnering attention, former South Africa cricketer, Jonty Rhodes had openly expressed his desire to act as the fielding coach of the Indian team.

Though his wish was not fulfilled, because the BCCI decided to extend the contract of T Dilip as India’s fielding coach, the veteran seems to have stuck to his desire. Bengali filmmaker Srijit Mukerji along with actor Dev Adhikari was promoting their film Tekka. They happened to bump into Jonty in the Shanty pally Pujo in Kolkata. He queried Jonty on his appointment as fielding coach and the latter replied that he was wearing a Blue kurta for a reason to get into the setup.

Jonty: Well, I am wearing blue and waiting for the phone call!

"What a delightful interaction at Shanti Pally Pujo inauguration as a part of #Tekka promotions with THE Jonty Rhodes! (sic),” Mukerji captioned the post on Instagram.

Here's Mukerji's latest post on Instagram:

Gambhir was adamant about having his Kolkata Knight Riders coaching mate, Abhishek Nayar as the assistant coach and the board approved the request. The Indian team also roped in Gambhir’s KKR associate Ryan Ten Doeschate as the other assistant coach. Moreover, the former India opener was reluctant on having anyone other then Morner Morkel as the bowling coach, eventually Morkel joined the Indian camp ahead of Bangladesh series.
