Delhi Capitals' captain and star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant shared an unexpected social media post just before the highly anticipated Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction.

Pant took to X (formerly Twitter) with a message that read, "If go to the auction. will I be sold or not and for how much ??" This single tweet has drawn speculation about the 27-year-old's future with the franchise.

Since his IPL debut in 2016, Pant has been an integral part of DC. In 111 matches, he scored 3284 runs, with a striking rate of 148.93, including one century and 18 half-centuries. In the previous season, Pant was Delhi's most expensive player at INR 16 crore and lived up to expectations by scoring 446 runs in 13 matches at a strike rate of 155.40.

Rishabh Pant made strong comeback in IPL 2024 after accident in 2022

After suffering a life-threatening car accident in December 2022, he made a strong comeback in the game after 14 months. He returned to the IPL in 2024 and later played a crucial role in India's T20 World Cup title victory. He recently scored a century (109) in his Test comeback against Bangladesh in Chennai.

Despite his stellar performances and long-standing association with the Capitals, the southpaw's future with the franchise remains uncertain. The team has undergone significant changes, including parting ways with head coach Ricky Ponting after a seven-year association. While DC has previously quashed rumours of Pant's release, his recent post has put discussions about his retention ahead of the mega auction.

Pant has been a key player of the team from being retained ahead of the 2018 auction to being named captain in 2021. His 128 off 63 balls against SRH in 2018 is one of his best IPL knocks.
