IND vs AUS: Suryakumar Yadav clobbers Adam Zampa for a six to bring up his half-century
Suryakumar Yadav clobbered leggie Adam Zampa to bring up his 50 in the series-deciding third T20I against Australia in Hyderabad. He scored a 36-ball 69.
Suryakumar Yadav made it matter when it mattered the most as he scored a match-winning half-century that helped India register a series-clinching victory in the third T20I against Australia at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday, September 25.
However, what really stood out during his whirlwind knock is the manner in which he got to his well-deserved half-century. It was indeed an outstanding way to get to his 50 with a six and the player who Yadav had targetted was none other than the smart leggie Adam Zampa who had dismissed him for a golden duck in the last game.
On the fourth delivery of the 13th over, the Mumbai cricketer advanced down the wicket and flicked Zampa over the deep mid-wicket boundary for a maximum and this brought up his half-century off just 29 deliveries.
The video was posted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on their official Twitter handle.
Suryakumar was involved in a crucial 104-run third wicket partnership with Virat Kohli. He was dismissed in the 14th over for a whirlwind innings of a 36-ball 69 and his knock included five fours and as many sixes for a strike rate of 191.66.
India clinch the T20I series
The partnership between Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli added a new lease of life to the Indian run chase and even after Yadav departed, Kohli counter-attacked the Aussie bowlers and roared back to form with yet another brilliant half-century.
This was the batting icon's 33rd T20I 50 and fourth 50+ score in the last seven innings as he along with Hardik Pandya brought down the asking rate. Even though Virat played a couple of dot balls in the penultimate over, his six off Daniel Sams' very first delivery brought the equation down to single figures before he was dismissed on the following delivery.
Sams did manage to keep Hardik quiet off the fourth ball before the batter smartly scored the winning four as India remained unbeaten in a bilateral T20I series since the last year's T20 World Cup.
