The 43rd match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) witnessed a clash between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on Monday, May 1. While the game had been going well, a fan got into the field and touched Virat Kohli's feet in a heartwarming gesture.

RCB skipper Faf du Plessis opted to bat first after winning the toss. All batters were troubled by LSG bowlers except the captain and Kohli as RCB posted a target of 127 runs for the home team. The South African batter smashed 44 runs from 40 balls, including one four and one six.

Kohli is one of the most celebrated sports personalities in the world. And during the clash at lucknow, another instance of a pitch invasion by Kohli's supporters occurred when one of his fans managed to get inside the field and touch the RCB batter's feet during LSG's chase. The cricketer gave the fan a hug before he left the pitch to celebrate the moment.

RCB beat LSG by 18 runs

All RCB batters were troubled by LSG bowlers throughout their innings. Apart from Du Plessis, Virat Kohli also produced a decent performance, scoring 31 off 30 deliveries. For LSG, Naveen-ul-Haq claimed a three-wicket haul while Ravi Bishnoi and Amit Mishra picked two, and Krishnappa Gowtham grabbed one.

Bishnoi picked two key wickets for LSG, dismissing RCB opener Kohli and all-rounder Glenn Maxwell (4). Meanwhile, Amit Mishra grabbed the crucial wicket and got rid of skipper Du Plessis.

LSG approached the chase with a clear mindset, given that the target was low. Impact Player Ayush Badoni opened with Kyle Mayers since captain KL Rahul was hurt while attempting to stop the ball from crossing the boundary line in the second over of RCB's innings. Mohammed Siraj rendered the strategies of LSG ineffectual as he dismissed opener Mayers for a duck.

While no other LSG batter scored more than 20 runs during their chase, Krishnappa Gowtham did, scoring 23 runs. KL Rahul, who was injured, was brought in to bat at number 10 but was unable to save his team. With one ball remaining, RCB bundled out LSG for 108 runs, courtesy of skillful bowling. Mohammed Siraj, Glenn Maxwell, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Impact Player Harshal Patel each claimed one wicket for RCB, while Karn Sharma and Josh Hazlewood picked two each.
