Rohit Sharma silenced his critics with the bat in the 2025 Champions Trophy final and also after the match while India celebrated the historic triumph.
Rohit Sharma played one of the finest knocks in the history of Champions Trophy finals as his whirlwind half-century orchestrated a four-wicket win for India against New Zealand at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, March 9.
Chasing a target of 252 on a tricky surface, Rohit came out all guns blazing against the new ball and put the New Zealand bowlers under the pump. He raced to his half-century off just 41 balls. The Indian captain was eventually dismissed for 76 off 83 deliveries after hitting seven fours and three sixes. This was Rohit's first half-century in the ninth edition of the Champions Trophy.
Rohit was visibly ecstatic after India completed the run chase in 49 overs to lift their second consecutive ICC title. The 37-year-old was asked after the match whether he was retiring from international cricket. He answered in the negative, much to the joy of the Indian fans.
During the celebrations, Rohit and Virat Kohli posed for the cameras with stumps in hand. The former, who doesn't shy away from swearing on the field, told Kohli, "Mereko retirement ki bol rahe the be**n ke l**de, M* k ch*t inki."

2Kohli couldn't control his laughter after hearing Rohit's one-liner and went on to give his long-time friend a high-five and a hug.
While Rohit made a significant contribution in the summit clash, Kohli was dismissed for one after being dismissed by Michael Bracewell. However, he finished the tournament as India's second-highest run-getter after Shreyas Iyer. In five innings, the former India captain slammed 218 runs at an average of 54.50. He registered a century against Pakistan in the group stage and a half-century in the semi-final against Australia.
