Nicholas Pooran reveals amusing story behind his Indian nickname
Pooran shared the incident with LSG and PBKS players after their match at Ekana.
During IPL 2023, star West Indies batter Nicholas Pooran loved the famous Dal Bati Churma dish in Rajasthan and shared a video of the same on his Instagram. The likes of Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi accompanied him to the restaurant and their hilarious conversation while having the dish went viral on social media.
A year later, Pooran shared how fans across the globe have started calling him by the name of the dish. The 28-year-old revealed that whenever the fans called him and he ignored them, they started calling him ‘Dal Bhati’ and after which, he broke into laughter. The stumper-batter shared the incident after the match between Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings at Ekana Stadium.

“Everywhere I go, someone will be like ‘Nikki P, Nikki P, and I’ll ignore them and then they will be like, ‘Dal Bhati’, and then I’ll just start laughing,” he shared while breaking into laughter.
Meanwhile, with KL Rahul playing as an Impact Sub against Punjab, Pooran was appointed as the skipper. Under his leadership, LSG registered their maiden win of the season as the hosts defeated Punjab by 21 runs. Batting first, Quinton de Kock gave a brilliant start to the team, as the South Africa international made 54 runs off 38 deliveries. After he got out, Pooran and Krunal Pandya took control of the situation as they made 42 and 43* runs respectively. Courtesy of their brilliant batting, LSG posted 199 runs in the first innings.
When it came to the chase, Shikhar Dhawan and Jonny Bairstow gave PBKS a good start but neither of them could capitalise. Wickets fell like a house of cards in the middle overs as the visitors ended up losing control of the match. The opening partnership of 102 runs was their highlight from the second innings but the team would be disappointed with their poor batting performance from the middle-order batters.
