The youngster let out a roar and punched the air in delight after sealing Rajasthan's narrow victory.
Rajasthan Royals sealed a thrilling victory over Punjab Kings to keep themselves alive in the race of the playoffs, thanks to Dhruv Jurel's match-winning cameo. The young Indian dasher, who was inducted as the Impact Sub during Rajasthan's chase, kept his cool to get his side over the line with a magnificent six in a nervy final over.
Sanju Samson's side, who needed to chase down Punjab Kings' total in the stipulated time to topple Royal Challengers Bangalore's net run rate, lost Jos Buttler for a third successive duck in the second over. However, the Men in Pink bounced back handsomely in the chase after Devdutt Padikkal and Yashasvi Jaiswal's brilliant half-centuries.
But the home side wrestled back the momentum in the latter stages by dismissing the dangerous Riyan Parag and Shimron Hetmyer in quick succession. With the pressure mounting on young Indian batter Dhruv Jurel, Rajasthan's only recognised batter in the middle, Shikhar Dhawan deployed Rahul Chahar to bowl the final over of the match.
With just four runs coming off the first three balls, Jurel trusted his instinct and danced down the pitch to dispatch the spinner for a towering six down the ground, sealing a thrilling victory for his side. The youngster let out a roar and punched the air in delight after Rajasthan's narrow victory.
The victory means that the Rajsthan-based franchise are still in the hunt for a top-four finish, however, they need a few favours from the other teams in the competition if they are to qualify for the knockouts for a second season running.
