Indian pacer Shardul Thakur has successfully undergone his foot surgery in London. He took to his social media account to disperse the development. Thakur contracted an injury during India’s South Africa tour in January. It is worth noting that the right-arm pacer recurred a similar injury five years back and made a resounding return to professional cricket. Owing to the recent injury, he had requested BCCI to schedule a recuperation period during each game as he was actively involved in Ranji Trophy 2024.
Thakur was bought by Chennai Super Kings ahead of the Indian Premier League 2024 season but the pacer failed to create a lasting impact. In nine games, he picked only five wickets and was expensive in his outings with an economy rate of 9.75. Coming back to his recovery process, he will be looked after by BCCI as he falls under the Grade C category of a player's contract. It is tentatively reported that Thakur will take at least three months to fully recover.

Indian cricketers marred by injuries
Talking about the injuries, another star Indian pacer, Mohammed Shami has been under recovering process after undergoing Achilles Tendon surgery in London. Shami was the premier bowler for India at the World Cup 2023 having picked 24 wickets, the leading wicket-taker in the tournament. Subsequently, India’s T20I maverick, Suryakumar Yadav too had undergone a surgery concerning sports hernia just after the South Africa series in January.
SKY has recovered from the setback and is drafted into India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad. He is joined by Rishabh Pant, who snatched life from the jaws of death after a horrible car accident in December 2022. In wholesome, the cricketers have exemplified the courage and grit one needs during shortcomings and Pant is a living example as he is up and going in the T20 World Cup.
