T20 World Cup 2022: David Warner produces acrobatic effort in must-win clash against Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka has posted 157 runs in their allotted 20 overs.
Australia's senior batter David Warner was simply impressive on the field against Sri Lanka in the ongoing encounter between both teams in the T20 World Cup 2022. At first, Warner saved a boundary for his team by keeping the ball inside the field of play, and then he completed an excellent running catch to dismiss the Lankan batter, Dhananjaya de Silva.
The home team is taking on Sri Lanka in the Perth Cricket Stadium and opted to have a bowl first after winning the toss. Australia have managed to restrict Sri Lanka to 157/6 and will back themselves to chase the target.
Warner saved a definite boundary for his team
Talking about the fielding effort first, Dhananjaya de Silva was facing Marcus Stoinis as he awkwardly chipped the ball over mid-off. Warner who was stationed inside the 30-yard circle at mid-off went running back and was able to grab the ball after making a full-stretched dive.
However, the momentum took Warner over the boundary line, so the left-handed batter lobbed the ball back onto the field (while still in the air) before landing over the boundary line.
Warner was again seen in action in the next over as de Silva tried to chip Ashton Agar between long-off and covers, but Warner covered a lot of area and then completed a tough catch to send him back to the pavilion. The video of Warner's catch was shared by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on their official Instagram handle.
Warner after having a good day in the field will want to perform with the bat as well and help Australia to get their first victory in the tournament. The left-handed batter got out in an unlucky fashion during the first game against New Zealand as he got played on before making any impact with the bat.
