T20 World Cup 2022: PAK vs NED - Best Memes from the game
Pakistan won the match easily by six wickets.
After having disappointing outings in the first two matches, team Pakistan made a strong comeback in the T20 World Cup 2022. The Men in Green brushed aside the Netherlands in their third match of the competition played at the Perth Stadium, on October 30 (Sunday).
Talking about the match, the Dutch side won the toss and decided to have a bat first. However, they had a horrible start with the bat as their senior batter Stephan Myburgh was the first one to go after scoring just six runs. The situation turned bad to worse for the batting side after their young batter Bas de Leede was pinned on the helmet by express pacer Haris Rauf with the batter getting retired hurt.
The Pakistani side was right on top against the Dutch side as they scalped two more crucial wickets of Tom Cooper and Max O'Dowd in quick succession and completely derailed the Netherlands' innings. Senior batters Colin Ackermann and the skipper Scott Edwards then tried to stage a comeback for the Men in Orange, but the spinner Shadab Khan got the better of Ackermann while Edwards was scalped by Naseem Shah.
After the fall of these two batters, the rest of the Netherlands batting line-up fell like a pack of cards as they could not even cross the 100-run mark in their allotted 20 overs. For Pakistan, Shadab scalped three wickets, followed by Mohammad Wasim (two wickets) and one wicket each came in for Naseem, Rauf, and Shaheen Afridi.
Babar Azam's poor run with the bat continues
Chasing just 92 to win, the skipper Babar Azam fell cheaply yet again, but this time due to a run-out. However, that did not affect his opening partner Mohammad Rizwan as he was joined by the senior batter Fakhar Zaman. Both Rizwan and Zaman then took Pakistan's score past the 50-run mark before Zaman had to walk back to the pavilion.
Despite Fakhar getting out, Rizwan was batting well at the other end, but he was not able to finish the game for his side as he fell short by just one to reach his half-century mark. The duo of Iftikhar Ahmed and Shadab then ended the game for their side as Pakistan registered their first victory in T20 World Cup 2022.
