T20 World Cup 2022: Rohit Sharma lifts Virat Kohli in joy as chase master wins thriller for India at MCG
Kohli was adjudged player of the match in India's clash against Pakistan
Team India managed to clinch a thriller against the arch-rivals Pakistan in their opening encounter of the 2022 T20 World Cup. The match had it all, but Virat Kohli showed why he is the best batter among the current generation as he completed a classic chase against the Men in Green.
Meanwhile, a video of the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma lifting Kohli after the match has gone viral on the social media platform. To note, Kohli remained unbeaten for his 82 runs in just 53 balls and was rightly adjudged player of the match.

Speaking about the match, India won the toss and opted to bowl first. Pakistan's openers Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam failed to get going, but some decent display of batting was shown by Iftikhar Ahmed and Shan Masood as they both completed their fifties.
Chasing 160 to win, India was 31/4 in 6.1 overs. However, an excellent partnership between Hardik Pandya and Kohli ensured that India remain in the contest. Even after Hardik got out, Kohli continued to show his wide range of shots as all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin scored the winning runs off the final ball of the match.
"It's a surreal atmosphere, I have no words, no idea how that happened. I am really lost for words. Hardik believed we can do it if we stayed till the end. When Shaheen bowled from the pavilion end, that's when we decided to take him down. Haris is their prime bowler, and I hit those two sixes. From 28 in 8, it came down to 16 to 6. I tried to stick to my instincts," Kohli said in the post-match presentation.
"The first one was back of a hand slower ball (the one over long-on). Standing here I just feel like it was meant to be. Till today Mohali was my best innings against Australia. Today I will count this one higher. Hardik kept pushing me. The crowd has been phenomenal. You guys (fans) kept backing me and I am grateful for your support," he added.
