Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan's white-ball captain, is under harsh analysis following Pakistan's disappointing early group-stage exit from the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The tournament held a special importance as the country was hosting it, but back-to-back loss against both New Zealand and India pushed them out of the tournament early, creating a bizarre environment amongst the fans and the cricket followers.

The criticism has stretched beyond the likes of social media, where Tabish Hashmi, the renowned Pakistani TV host, took a jibe at Rizwan's language skills during a recent show. Hashmi not only took a dig at Pakistan’s poor on-field game but also mocked Rizwan’s English during post-match conferences and practice sessions. Former cricketers like Ahmed Shehzad, Rashid Latif, and Mohammed Amir were also present on the panel. While Latif and Amir stood poised, Shehzad couldn’t stay composed and burst out laughing, a video that has now gone viral.

This is so low from Tabish Hashmi. There are many other reasons to criticize the team based on their performance, but this is as low as you can go. The way Ahmed Shehzad laughs at these pathetic words speaks volumes about him.

The segment has not treated the well-liked many Pakistani fans, who view it as a disrespectful approach on their national captain. While criticism of the team’s poor performances is accepted, but many think that attacking someone based on their language and communication skills is unnecessary and degrading.

Pakistan’s Declining ICC Performances Raise Serious Concerns

Pakistan facing major difficulties in ICC tournaments have been a growing matter of concern. Being dropped in the group stage of the 2023 ODI World Cup and 2024 T20 World Cup and now getting knocked out from the Champions Trophy tournament has created a noise in the town.

As criticism falls back on Rizwan and the team, the Pakistan Cricket Board may be forced to take decisive steps to revamp the squad and address the issues that have plagued their performances in recent years.
