[Watch] IPL 2025: Travis Head gets lifeline twice in same over as Pooran, Bishnoi drop catches
Head was dropped twice in the sixth over of the first innings.
Sunrisers Hyderabad's star opener Travis Head was handed not one but two lifelines in the same over during Match No.7 of the IPL 2025 clash against Lucknow Super Giants at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Thursday, March 27.
The game began with LSG skipper Rishabh Pant winning the toss and electing to field first, trusting his batters to chase any target set by the SRH lineup. The decision seemed to pay off immediately as Shardul Thakur struck twice in quick succession during the third over. He first dismissed Abhishek Sharma for 6, caught by Nicholas Pooran, and then removed Ishan Kishan for a golden duck as he nicked a ball down the leg side to wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant.
Just when SRH needed stability, Head looked to stitch a partnership alongside Nitish Reddy. However, in the sixth over, bowled by leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi, LSG had the golden opportunity to dismiss the Aussie not once but twice.
On the very first ball of the over, Head smashed a lofted shot down the ground, straight to Pooran at long-on. The West Indian, who is known to have a safe pair of hands, came under the ball at the right time but spilled the catch as he lost his balance. Just four balls later, Head thrashed a short delivery straight back at Bishnoi, who stuck out his right hand in his follow-through but could not hold onto it.
Prince Yadav sent Travis Head packing
The Australian raced to 47 off just 28 balls, smashing five boundaries and three sixes, as SRH reached 71/2 by the end of the seventh over. However, just when it looked like the 31-year-old would take the game away, LSG pacer Prince Yadav struck in the eighth over, just moments after the strategic timeout. The young pacer bowled a full delivery that went through Head’s defense, dismantling the middle and off stumps.
