Pakistan are taking on Bangladesh in the first Test in Rawalpindi, which commenced on August 21. Amidst the Test, Pakistan pacer, Shaheen Afridi was blessed with a baby boy. For the unversed, Shaheen tied the knot with former Pakistan skipper, Shahid Afridi’s daughter Ansha Afridi in September 2023. The duo named their son Ali Yar, and the father marked the occasion with a unique celebration on the field.

Shaheen’s trademark celebration of arms spread across after taking the wicket took a backseat when he plucked Hasan Mahmud out on Day 4. The 24-year-old was toiling hard with no wicket to his name as Hasan edged one to wicketkeeper Mohammed Rizwan. The left-arm pacer was overjoyed and gestured a baby cuddle after finishing the follow-through. The moment also marked the former Pakistan skipper’s first scalp after the birth of his child.

Bangladesh take hefty lead on Day 4

Speaking of the Test, Pakistan posted a decent total of 448 after putting to bat first on the back of centuries from Saud Shakeel and Rizwan. Though they managed to pick two early wickets during Bangladesh innings, the hosts failed to contain the onslaught of veteran, Mushfiqur Rahim. The 37-year-old amassed 191 off 341 deliveries as the visitors took a hefty lead of 117 on a slowed-down wicket.

Naseem Shah pocketed three wickets, whereas, Shaheen, Khurram Shahzad, and Mohammed Ali chipped in with two each. At the end of Day 4, Pakistan are trailing by 94 runs, having lost Saim Ayub in the process. Bangladesh’s Shoriful Aslam struck on his second delivery of the same number of over, as Ayub nicked a fuller-length ball to slips.
