Australia are on the brink of making it two wins in two matches after pushing Ben Stokes' side against the wall in the final session of the fourth day of the Lord's Test. While Australia are the favourites, having already claimed four English wickets in a stiff chase, former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen remains hopeful of England's victory.

England's bowlers started the day on a bright note after a barrage of short balls accounted for Usman Khawaja, Steve Smith and Travis Head in quick succession. Despite those wickets, the visitors managed to post a daunting target on the board for Ben Stokes' relentless batters.

While the hosts were never going to be bogged down by the total on the board, a fiery spell of fast bowling from the Australian star duo, Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins, handed the ascendency to the visitors. Irrespective of England's position in the match, former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen is hopeful of a miraculous chase at the iconic Lord's on the final day of the second Ashes Test.

While the former cricketer's opinion seems a bit far-fetched at the moment, the weather does look optimum for the batting team as the previous four days of this Test have seen considerable cloud cover at the venue, assisting the bowlers. Despite the conditions, a herculean task awaits the English lower middle order, with the hosts looking at their inspirational skipper with hopes of a memorable rescue act.
