Chennai Super Kings batsmen think of CSK as a government job: Virender Sehwag
The Yellow Army will next be facing Royal Challengers Bangalore on 10th October.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have been one of the most successful franchises of IPL history. They have won three IPL trophies and have the services of one of the most celebrated captain of all time– Mahendra Singh Dhoni. However, their performance has been under severe criticism in IPL 2020 as they have lost four out of their six games.
In their last fixture, CSK clashed with KKR and they were all set for a one-sided triumph but a batting collapse led them to a shocking defeat. Their senior batsman, Kedar Jadhav, encountered massive criticism for playing defensive shots when the run rate was surging in the end. Also, Dhoni’s captaincy choices came under scrutiny after Jadhav was sent before Dwayne Bravo, who is recognized as an attacking batsman.
Virender Sehwag, the former Indian opener, criticised CSK batsmen after the match and said that the players are treating the franchise as a government job.
“It should have been chased down. But the dot balls played by Kedar Jadhav and Ravindra Jadeja didn’t help. And, in my view, some of the Chennai Super Kings batsmen think of CSK as a government job, whether you perform or not, they know they’ll get their salary anyway,” Sehwag told Cricbuzz.
Kedar Jadhav should have been awarded Man of the Match: Virender Sehwag
Sehwag is known for his witty style and he again showed a glimpse of it after CSK’s defeat. In the latest episode of his Facebook series ‘Viru Ki Baithak‘, he said that Jadhav should have been awarded ‘Man of the Match’ for changing the course of the game.
The former cricketer also defamed the CSK batsman by calling him “useless decoration”. Notably, when Jadhav came to the crease, CSK needed 39 runs off 21 balls and he managed to score only 7 off 12 deliveries.
CSK have been struggling since they have reached the UAE. First, 12 members of their contingent were tested positive for COVID-19 and then, their senior players, Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh, pulled out of the tournament. Notably, CSK has reached the finals for record eight times in IPL. The Yellow Army will next be facing Royal Challengers Bangalore on 10th October.
