South Africa vs India: Harbhajan Singh finds the perfect analogy for Bumrah-Bhuvi spell
South Africa finished the day 1 of the Test at 6/1 in 6 overs.
Veteran Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh seems to be following the ongoing Johannesburg Test match between South Africa and India very closely. Albeit team India is on the back foot at the end of the proceedings of the opening day, Habrhajan tried to cite the positives towards the end of the day. In an update on his micro blogging site Twitter handle, the off-spinner hailed the opening spell of Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Bhuvi and Bumrah took the new ball in hand for a few overs on day 1 before the stumps were called. They had only 6 overs in hand to bowl and the duo bowled exceptionally well to see South Africa finish with 6/1. After starting off decently in the first over, Bhuvneshwar Kumar managed to get the first breakthrough for India in his second over. He got the edge off the bat of Aiden Markram as Parthiv Patel completed an easy catch to give India their first wicket.
The Proteas sent in Kagiso Rabada as the night watchman. Rabada and Dean Elgar managed to ensure that no more wickets fell on the day for the hosts. However, Bumrah and Bhuvi were constantly probing the right channels with their accuracy. The track looks lively and has some serious assistance for pace bowling. No wonder why the first hour of play on day 2 will be very crucial for the Indian team, if they wish to claw back in to the game.
Hailing the opening spells of Bhuvi and Bumrah, Harbhajan Singh exclaimed that he is loving the good show by the bowlers. He compared the deliveries bowled by the two Indian bowlers to snakes since the ball was moving away big time. Harbhajan Singh called the act as ‘top class’.
Earlier in the day, India had won the toss and had opted to bat first. Skipper Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara scored fifties to put India in a decent position. However, a middle-order collapse saw the team bundling out for a paltry 187 in their first innings. As has been the story of the series, the team will again have to be dependent on their bowlers to do the task for them in the match.
Here is what Harbhajan Singh tweeted:
“Loving this bowling spell by @BhuviOfficial and @Jaspritbumrah93 ball moving like snake. bite it.. top class #SAvIND,” tweeted Harbhajan Singh.
