Sri Lanka players might not be able to gorge on the famous Rosogolla on their visit to Kolkata
the team is in India to play 3 Tests, 3 ODIs and as many T20Is.
Sri Lanka players are set to miss out to taste the famous sweet Rosogolla on their visit to Kolkata for the first Test against India. The team from island nation is in the country to play a return series which comprises of 3 Tests, 3 ODIs and as many T20 Internationals. The first Test is about to begin at the Eden Gardens on Thursday. However, the team has been kept devoid of sweets on the tour.
West Bengal recently won its war with Odisha after about two and a half years when the Geographical Indications (GI) announced that the former State was the origin of the world-wide famous sweet. Every visiting foreigner, let alone cricketer, doesn’t miss out to taste Rosogolla but the visitors this time around will not be able to do it.
Rosogolla not in the Menu list for Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka team is staying in Hotel Lalit in Kolkata and they have been strictly advised to stay away from sweets on the tour. “We prepare players’ menu strictly suggested by the team management and they avoid sweets on tour”, Madhumita Banerjee, the PR executive at the hotel told Kashmir Times in an interview to them. Interestingly, biscuits were banned last time in the dressing room of Lanka when India visited the country in August earlier this year.
“Our physio and trainer are in charge of food at game and they have banned biscuits in the changing room,” the team manager Asanka Gurusinha had informed the media then. Sri Lanka hasn’t won any Test in 17 appearances in India and would look to change the history this time around. It would not be easy though as they are up against a number 1 side in the format who have not lost a Test series at home since 2012.
A win in this series would be more sweet for the players and the team management than the Rosogolla which they will enjoy more.
