Sri Lanka vs India: Kuldeep Yadav dismisses Minod Bhanuka with a brilliant delivery
Kuldeep Yadav has bowled well in the first ODI against Sri Lanka.
The first ODI between Sri Lanka and India is currently in progress at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The hosts opted to bat first and got off to a decent start thanks to their openers Minod Bhanuka and Avishka Fernando. India couldn’t pick a single wicket in the first nine overs which led to Shikhar Dhawan introducing the much-celebrated duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav into the attack.
More than Chahal, all the eyes were on the chinaman Kuldeep who either spent a lot of time on the bench or didn’t impress whenever he played for India over the last couple of years. However, Kuldeep did well from the word go to keep a lid on the run-scoring and as it happens in ODI cricket, the presssure was built and wickets came his way.
The pace with which he was bowling impressed even the commentators and all the good bowling came together for him in the 17th over of the innings. Bhanuka Rajapaksa first threw his wicket away but the real hint of Kuldeep Yadav finding his form back was the fourth ball of the over.
Kuldeep traps Minod with a superb delivery
The chinaman tossed up a delivery outside the off-stump inviting the batsman Minod Bhanuka to have a go at it. The left-hander did so only to edge the ball to the first slip where Prithvi Shaw pouched a simple catch. It was a superb delivery from Kuldeep Yadav and the dismissal came at the right time as Minod was looking good having faced more than 40 balls.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka‘s batsmen have thrown away good starts and in the process, have found themselves in building the innings everytime. Avishka Fernando and Minod both looked good in the middle but they got out after scoring 32 and 27 runs respectively. Bhanuka Rajapaksa smashed two sixes and put India under the pressure for some time before chipping one in the air.
Even the vice-captain Dhananjaya de Silva played an inside-out shot in the air only to get caught in the deep. India are not complaining though and the fans will be happy to see Kuldeep Yadav doing well.
