Srilanka’s fixture in ICC World Cup 2015: If we evaluate all Cricket playing nations on the yardstick of consistency, Sri Lanka will emerge out as best performers in last two ODI World cups. In year 2007 and 2011, both times Sri Lanka was runner ups. Sri Lanka will come into the tournament with a hope to be crowned as Champions this time around. CricTracker takes a look at Sri Lanka’s fixtures in 2015 World Cup.
Sri Lanka is pitted in Pool A and will play the opening game of the tournament against co hosts New Zealand in Christchurch. It will be a tough contest as New Zealand will play in home conditions.
1stMatch, Sat Feb 14, Pool A – New Zealand v Sri Lanka at Hagley Oval, Christchurch
After a gap of more than one week in its next league game, Sri Lanka will play against Afghanistan
2nd Match, Sun Feb 22, Pool A – Afghanistan v Sri Lanka at University Oval, Dunedin
In the same week Sri Lanka will travel to Australia to face Bangladesh at MCG in the next encounter
3rd Match, Thu Feb 26, Pool A – Bangladesh v Sri Lanka at Melbourne Cricket Ground
Sri Lanka’s next encounter will be with evenly matched English side in a day game in New Zealand
4thMatch,Sun Mar 1, Pool A – England v Sri Lanka at Westpac Stadium, Wellington
A week later Sri Lanka will play against the host Australia in Sydney. This again will be a big test for Sri Lanka as Australia will play in home conditions but Sri Lanka can also expect a good crowd support from a large number of Asians in that part of Australia
5th Match, Sun Mar 8, Pool A – Australia v Sri Lanka at Sydney Cricket Ground
In the last league match, Sri Lanka will face Scotland in a day night game.
6th Match,Wed Mar 11, Pool A – Scotland v Sri Lanka at Bellerive Oval, Hobart
While Sri Lanka is expected to enter the knock out stage, but it will be the position at which Sri Lanka finishes the group, which in turn will decide against whom they play their Quarter finals game.
