Startling facts emerge regarding quarantine rules for Indian cricketers as compared to other celebrities

The stay in Brisbane has certainly not been a comfortable one for the Indian cricketers in Australia. Earlier, there were reports which stated that the Indian cricketers would even be asked to clean their own toilets, and would not be allowed access to the gym, the swimming pool, and even the basic housekeeping facilities as well.

But then, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah had to intervene, hold talks with the Cricket Australia (CA) officials to ensure that the Indian players got access to these basic services.

The Daily Mail has reported some stunning facts regarding this issue. The Australian Football League (AFL) was attended by more than 30,000 people, and the State of Origin Rugby game was attended by a whopping 50,000 people. Also, the likes of celebrities like Rita Wilson, Tom Hanks, and songwriter Dannii Minogue were even allowed a ‘luxury’ accommodation.

Also, the NBA basketball teams were allowed to stay in three luxury hotels, and even their families could come and join in. In fact, they had access to three golf courses, and they could roam around going for boating and even fishing.

Why the different treatment for different celebrities?

Then, if all these celebrities can be allowed luxury, why are the authorities cribbing when the Indian players ask for basic facilities like a gym or access to a swimming pool?

Karrie Webb, the Australian golfer also supported the visitors regarding this issue. Webb admitted that it is indeed a struggle for the cricketers, and change is something that has to be dealt with. She also added that it was a built-in excuse as well.

‘Oh bless! Such a struggle for them! Every athlete in the world has had to deal with change during this time if they want to compete at their sport. Built in excuse maybe,” said Webb.

Amidst all this hullabaloo, the fourth and final Test will get underway from Friday at The Gabba in Brisbane, and the winner of the Test match will get hold of the prestigious Border-Gavaskar trophy that is currently tied at 1-1. The Indian side has been hit by a plethora of injuries with the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja and even Hanuma Vihari not available from the previous game.

For the Aussies, Will Pucovski’s tryst with injury continues and he will be unavailable for the fourth Test after suffering a shoulder injury. Marcus Harris will take his place at the top of the order.
