Stats: Highest individual scores by Indians in T20 cricket
Virender Sehwag also features along with a few other youngsters.
Suresh Raina narrowly missed out on a record to register the highest individual scores by an Indian in the shortest format of the game. He smashed an unbeaten 126-run knock off just 59 deliveries against Bengal on Monday which led Uttar Pradesh to a handsome 75-run victory. The super league of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy is currently going on as the teams are fighting it out in the middle for the ultimate glory. However, Raina came back in form finally after being under the lid throughout the season for his non-performance at the domestic level.
Murali Vijay holds the record currently with 127 runs off only 56 balls which he scored way back in 2010 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Chennai Super Kings against Rajasthan Royals. Suresh Raina’s innings comes next after him now which included 13 fours and seven gigantic maximums as well. It must have surely him regain a lot of confidence and would love to continue in the same way in the upcoming games of the tournament.
Sehwag also in the list
Unmukt Chand is the third cricketer in this list who had smashed 125 runs facing only 63 cherries five years ago in Indore while playing for Delhi Daredevils against Gujarat. However, he has way past his prime now and doesn’t even feature in the playing eleven of the state side in the ongoing T20 competition. The name of Virender Sehwag has to come when it comes to memorable knocks in T20 cricket. Very few must have forgotten his swashbuckling innings for Kings XI Punjab in the playoff game against CSK in Mumbai in 2014.
The knock was the last significant contribution of the veteran to any team in the game of cricket after which he called time on his career following a lean 2015 season. Paul Valthaty, again from Kings XI team, has made it to this list. He had also hit a century against the most celebrated team in the league CSK and scored 120 off 63 deliveries in Mohali almost seven years ago.
