West Indies cricketer Darren Sammy has continued to raise his voice against the injustice of black people. He had earlier alleged his ex-Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) teammates of calling him ‘Kalu’ and also called them out to apologise him for the racist slur. Moreover, the likes of Chris Gayle and Dwayne Bravo have also opened up on the issue stating that this is the right time to raise the voice.

It all started with the African-American George Floyd being killed by a police officer in the USA. The protests are going on worldwide against racism and this is when Sammy also realised that he has also faced it before. He came to know the meaning of ‘Kalu’ in one of the viral videos online and since then he is livid with the cricketers over the same.

And now he has responded to Tamil Nadu cricketer Abhinav Mukund‘s tweet in 2017 when he had raised the issue in a statement. Mukund had stated that many have called him out and laughed at him for his dark skin tone. He had also cleared that he is speaking up not only for himself but for all those who are facing racism.

“Obviously, with the rise of social media, it has gone to a magnitude that I see people hurling abuses left, right, and centre at something I have absolutely no control over. Fair isn’t the only lovely and handsome guys! Stay true, stay focused, be comfortable in your own skin,” a part of his statement read. Moreover, he had also received support from his skipper Virat Kohli then.

Here’s his tweet:

You were beautifully made, says Darren Sammy

Quoting almost a three-year-old tweet on Thursday, Darren Sammy voiced his support from Abhinav Mukund. He urged him to stay strong in this fight and also said that he is wonderfully and beautifully made.

As far as Sammy’s allegations are concerned, Ishant Sharma‘s old Instagram post has gone viral in which he had termed the Caribbean cricketer as ‘Kalu’. However, nothing has come from the BCCI, SRH or any other cricketer since Sammy has opened up about racism.
